Mary is a down-to-earth wine and cocktail enthusiast who has been working in the food and beverage industry for over ten years. She began slinging beers in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio and eventually migrated east to Boston where she landed at Rialto and then Clio, where she helped develop the groundbreaking cocktail program alongside bar manager Todd Maul. It was during that time that Mary also took the reins as wine director for Clio. She focused the extensive wine list on French and American varietals to pair with the intricate cuisine without overwhelming it. She also focused her attention on the expansive sake list at the progressive sashimi bar Uni.
As the general manager at Coppa, Mary continues to flex her mixology muscles to create new spins on classic cocktails using only beer, wine and cordials. She’s also dedicated to making wine approachable for every diner. As a founding member of the Boston Sommelier Society, Mary has developed a working knowledge of regions and varietals and understands how to communicate a bottle’s virtues without alienating the drinker. The all-Italian wine list at Coppa reflects Mary’s love for both the quirky and the traditional while emphasizing value.
